About Christiane Woopen

Christiane Woopen studied medicine and philosophy. She holds the Hertz-Chair for Life Ethics at Bonn University. Until September 2021, she was the Executive Director of CERES, a Professor of Ethics and Theory of Medicine and head of the Ethics research unit at the University of Cologne. She was a member of UNESCO’s International Bioethics Committee and chair of the German Ethics Council. She is currently chair of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies and co-spokesperson for the Federal Government’s Data Ethics Commission.
